Features are a type of content that shelters the expansion of knowledge acquisition. While still maintaining the elements of entertainment. Its main purpose is to let the viewers learn and enjoy the piece of knowledge that is presented.
In this blog, we will flesh out the approaches used in formulating the video "Digos Noon at Ngayon," made by the teleradyo channel Energy 911 featuring the rich history of Digos City and the sequential events that led to what Digos is now today.
Writing Techniques
In cases of making a feature, materials must be the foreground of its structure since it provides a substantial basis for the feature to flow. The materials used must always be fitting to the discussion and are backed by supporting sources that hold a significant weight to the whole piece.
The video entitled "Digos Noon at Ngayon" was able to utilize substantial materials and photographs coming from the Public Library of the City. It was also constructed in such a way that is linear, making the whole construct of the feature follow its title, which already serves as a hint that the structure of the feature will focus from the past and up to the present. Moreover, the history and culture of Digos City were thoroughly researched. In fact, even details that were mentioned were not even discussed in our history classes while I was still attending school in the City. Records of government officials and their achievements were well presented. All of these factors intertwined to create an informational yet interesting feature writing.
Form and Approach
The sequence of the feature was heavily constructed around the use of vintage pictures that were only available to the City's library and other documents that only belonged to a handful of people. The whole structure of the feature was narrated while being accompanied by a slide show of pictures and videos from the past and the present. At the end of the video, all sorts of landmarks, city establishments, day-to-day pictures of the people, and other photographs that represent the City were shown. This is to showcase what the City has to offer outside the perspective of the City's economy and politics.
Process
The whole presentation of the feature was mostly objective and surrounded the establishment of knowledge to the audience. However, some parts of the feature did fall into subjectivity since the narrator sometimes comments on the accomplishments of the politicians involved in building up the economic growth of the City. But I have also been to dig up a succeeding video that connects to this feature film. The second episode mostly defines the present administrations and accomplishments, which is good, but it still gets into a subjective perspective. Moreover, the feature was quite entertaining and filled with sensual information that most people in the City are not aware of, including me.
